Aldi UK opened its newest superstore

JT Consultancy Ltd are delighted to announce that Aldi UK opened its newest superstore on Thursday 26th November 2020, on Bursledon Road, Southampton. The site was originally owned by JTC and through strategic foresight in order to assist the existing and future local residents with the provision of a more convenient and cost effective shopping amenity, JTC sold a portion of the land to Aldi on a subject to planning deal. After a lot of hard work and determination by both JTC and Aldi working alongside one another, planning was granted towards the end of 2019 and approximately 11 months later a new superstore created.

Property Director for Aldi, Mr Lee McCandless said: “We are delighted that our Bursledon Road store has now opened and is already proving to be popular. This significant investment has created jobs for over 40 local people and provided easier access to our popular, high quality, great value offer, significantly improving the retail facilities in the area. This opening follows Aldi’s pledge to invest £1.3bn within the UK over the next two years, including adding capacity to our store and distribution network to keep pace with demand from consumers. Aldi has also confirmed it will create around 4,000 jobs in the UK next year to support continued store growth. We would like to thank JT Consultancy and the local community for its support throughout the planning process and look forward to welcoming them in the store.”
